School Council
Okehampton College Student Council is made up of the House Captains who are in Year 11. It is also attended by the Sixth Form Presidents, who liaise with the Sixth Form Committee. The Council is chaired by a member of staff, currently, Mr M Gurney.
The Council meets every two or three weeks at lunchtimes. It is well attended. As well as representing the students of the College on a number of occasions, the Council has instigated a number of ideas and new initiatives. Some of its achievements have been:
The Student Council has also been consulted over whole-school issues, such as The Code of Conduct and school uniform. Members have helped at awards ceremonies and act as ambassadors for the school at the Year 6 Open Evening.
Reps visit tutor groups and assemblies to report back to students and to gather requests.

- The creation of a 'Peace Garden' as a place of quiet contemplation in memory of staff and students of the College, who are no longer with us.
- Asking for improvements in the school toilets.
- Changes in where students wait for school buses in wet weather.
- The donation of thousands of pounds to charity.
- Being involved in the interview process for senior members of staff.
