Our Mission, Vision and Values

​What we want to achieve
​
  • Our simple aim is nothing more, and nothing less than for all our students to leave us as highly qualified, personable, articulate, and socially responsible young citizens, ready to lead happy and enriching adult lives. 
​
  • As a member of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust (DMAT) family of schools, we seek to transform the life chances of all the children we serve, by cultivating a commitment to long-term improvement that aims to secure exceptional educational standards and leaves no one behind.  Inclusion underpins the driving values of our Trust, and together we celebrate both that which we have in common and that which makes us different, promoting the right to the best education regardless of background.

  • We aim to undermine the known, damaging long-term effects of socio-economic disadvantage, profoundly believing that the background of the students we serve should have no bearing on their achievement, or on their abilities to create opportunities for themselves equitable with those that children from more advantaged backgrounds are able to create.

  • We want to be an institution of unapologetically high ideals, renowned for the exceptional education it provides, evinced by its alumni, and rooted in the community it serves, where, through inclusion, scholarship and nurture, students grow, intellectually and emotionally, in a safe, supportive, challenging, and inspiring environment.


How we must behave​

  • We believe that excellence cannot be reached without equity, success for every child, and thus promote a consistent and collegiate focus on the provision of an equitable distribution of high educational outcomes across all our students, irrespective of socio-economic or familial circumstance — because this is how we can fulfil our civic duty and help establish fairness of opportunity for all, community cohesion, and social justice. 
 
  • We concern ourselves with the development of our students’ character as well as their competence, promoting our CORE values of Community, Opportunity, Respect and Equity, and underwriting them by being responsible (socially and personally), humble, hopeful, forgiving, generous, empathic, resilient, and mindful. 
 
  • We have high expectations of our students and ourselves, and we meet vulnerability with support and opportunity to enable each member of our community to take responsibility for the choices they make, so that we can all consciously and confidently chart our own destiny with the knowledge, skills and understanding that we develop.

  • We provide a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum that affords all our students the chance to forge future opportunities for themselves equitable with those forged by students nationwide, adopting in doing so a ‘do better’ culture — because we know and accept that sometimes, our best is not always good enough.
