There are many things to consider when choosing your options at Post 16. Take into account the following points when deciding:
If you have a long-term career in mind check if it requires certain subjects to be studied.
Take courses that you think you will enjoy.
Look carefully at the entry requirements set out in the prospectus to ensure that you will cope with the demands of the course.
If you are unsure, don’t worry: you will be given the opportunity to discuss your choices with a member of the Post-16 Staff.
Okehampton College Y11 students will be asked to complete an initial application form, which they can get from their Tutor. This will start the application procedure. External applicants are asked to complete the online form linked below. The complete application process is covered in the Prospectus.
Key Dates for applying to study at Okehampton College Post-16
October and November 2021: Visit Wardhayes campus, read the Post-16 prospectus, and begin to think about your initial choices
Wednesday 1 December: Post-16 Curriculum Open Evening. This is your opportunity to gather more detailed information.
December 2021: Complete the 'Initial Application for Post-16 Education’ MS Forms sheet a(we use these to make the Option Blocks).
January 2022: We will finalize people’s choices based on the released Option Blocks.
January and February 2022: Invitation to attend sixth form interview
Spring and Summer term 2022: Conditional place based on final grade predictions and confirmed on summer results.
Summer and Autumn term 2022: Sixth form taster week, enrolment and induction day.
