AQA GCSE (9-1) English Language
Paper 1: There is no advance information for Paper 1 - This will remain a 1 hour 45 minutes examination. Section A will focus on one unseen fictional extract with 4 analytical questions and Section B will be a creative writing task based on an image stimulus. Examples of Paper 1 and its mark scheme can be found here: English-Language-Paper 1 Sample-Papers.pdf (theacademycarlton.org.uk) Paper 2: This paper will remain a 1 hour and 45 minutes examination. In Section A, the reading Source A will be a 21st century Autobiographical writing and the Source B will be a 19th century Essay. Spoken Language (NEA): The Spoken Language assessment can be conducted by the teacher at any time during the course, and by virtual means. It can also take place in front of a single teacher who represents an ‘audience’. |
AQA GCSE (9-1) English Literature
Paper 1: This paper will consist of three questions, and candidates choose to answer two. Students will have 50 minutes for each of the two questions they choose to answer. The questions will be on an anthology of poetry, a 19th century novel, or a modern prose/drama. We as a whole college have chosen to only study the anthology of poetry and the modern drama: An Inspector Calls. Students at Okehampton College will not need to answer the 19th century novel question in this exam. Paper 2: This paper will be 1 hour and 45 minutes long. Section A will consist of a Shakespeare question and Section B will consist of two unseen poetry questions. |
