As a secondary school there are two main routes that students can take to join us. If the student is in Primary School and wants to join us at the beginning of Year 7 or if they want to join our Sixth Form at the end of Key Stage 4 then they are considered a Normal Round Admission, any students applying to join us at any other time are an In-Year Admission.
All applications for admission to years 7-11 at Okehampton College must be made via Devon County Council’s Admissions team, for more information please visit their website or call the Education Helpline on 0345 155 1019.
Anybody wishing to apply for a place in the College’s Sixth Form should contact us directly (01837 650910) or visit the Applying to Post-16 section of this website. Our latest sixth form prospectus is available here.
If your child is in one of the Primary Schools which act as feeder schools for Okehampton College you will be sent details of how to apply during the first weeks of September of their last year of Primary School. The closing date for applications is normally the end of October (the specific dates will be different each year, please check the admissions website or call the Education Helpline for the most up-to-date information) and it is recommended that you read the latest Step by Step booklet before completing the application.
During the application window you can apply online here or you can complete and return a Common Application Form (CAF) to your child’s Primary School. You can also send a CAF directly to the Admissions team: School Admissions Team, Room L102, County Hall, Exeter, EX2 4QU.
In-year Admissions If you have recently moved into our catchment area, are about to move into our catchment area, or live in another College’s catchment area but want to transfer to Okehampton College you can apply for a place by going to the Devon Admissions website and selecting the Devon common application form (D-CAF). This form allows you to download and either complete and email a copy to admissions (admissions@devon.gov.uk) or to print a copy and send the completed form to the Admissions team (School Admissions Service, Room L102, County Hall, Exeter EX2 4QU.
We encourage any parent considering making an In-Year Application to contact us so that we can arrange for a visit to the school and a meeting with our Assistant Principal with responsibility for In-Year Admissions, Ms Gibson.
