Post-16 Welfare

Students aged 16 to 19 are eligible for a bursary to help with education-related costs.  It provides financial support to help students overcome specific financial barriers to participation they may face so they can remain in education. The bursary is money that you, and/or we use to pay for things like clothing, books and other equipment for your course,  transport and lunch on days you study, or one-off payments to cover study trips or travel for university interviews. The 16 -19 bursary is available for eligible students studying in our Sixth Form.  Applications may be made at any time in the academic year, once they have attended Sixth Form for six weeks. There are two types of 16 -19 bursaries: a vulnerable bursary, and a discretionary bursary. To be eligible to receive either of these bursaries, students starting post-16 courses in September 2025 must be aged over 16 and under 19 at 31st August 2025.

This link will open our Bursary Fund Allocation Policy , where you can see what funding is available, to whom, and associated details of what, how and when it is paid.   To apply for the 16 -19 bursary please use our Bursary Application Form as early as possible once your enrolment on Post-16 courses at the College has been confirmed.
