Personal Development at Post-16
All students in Post-16 study Personal Development as part of their timetable. This is one hour a fortnight. They also have a weekly tutor time and a weekly mentoring slot for personalised academic support.
The areas which we cover at Post 16 are:
- Rights, Responsibilities and British Values
- Celebrating Diversity and Equality
- Relationships and Sex Education Staying safe online and offline
- Health and Wellbeing
- Life beyond school
Attendance
Attendance is essential for progress. Pupils' attendance is based on lessons, PD and self-study sessions. Attendance is checked on a weekly basis.
Academic Progress
This is updated after each data drop and encourages pupils to try their hardest in every lesson.
Approaches to learning
Attending well will support good outcomes, but when this is combined with a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning, pupils will excel.
Volunteering record
All pupils are encouraged to volunteer. This could be in college, or the community. They receive a termly volunteering record sheet to update and feedback to their tutor on. On the back of this sheet, pupils can also ask for a reference. Volunteering runs until the Easter of Yr 13
Work experience review
Year 12 pupils will also be carrying out work experience. As part of this process, all students will need to link their work experience to their Unifrog account so that it automatically sends out requests to the employers. All students will have a review booklet to complete after the experience.
UCAS/Work experience/Academic support
All students in Year 13 will start a UCAS application - entering their personal details - those students who want to apply to study at a university will complete the application form. Students will be guided every step of the way but the Post-16 staff.
