Maths
The key aims of the Maths Faculty are to develop students’ mathematical thinking and problem solving skills and to motivate students to reach their potential whatever their age or prior attainment.
Our team of enthusiastic mathematics specialists comprises nine full time and three part-time teachers who are based in their own teaching rooms where possible. In addition, two full-time specialist Teaching Assistants play a key role in supporting students throughout Years 7 – 11, both supporting whole classes in lessons as well as carrying out additional small group and one to one intervention sessions. Lessons will typically include a variety of elements, from whole class discussion, to small group, paired or individual work. Students may also attend a lunch time maths club for support with homework or to develop their talents with puzzles and challenges.
The Key Stage 3 curriculum covers Number, Algebra, Ratio, Proportion and Rates of Change, Geometry and Measures, Probability and Statistics.
Whilst the programme varies according to the ability of the student, schemes of learning develop the content of the KS3 National Curriculum, which can be found at
NATIONAL CURRICULUM IN ENGLAND: MATHS PROGRAMMES OF STUDY
During Key Stage 4 students are prepared for Foundation tier GCSE Edexcel IMAO1
or Higher tier GSCE Edexcel IMAO1 details of which can be found here
