As you will be aware, during the course of the morning the Met Office Amber weather warning has been upgraded to red and true to the forecast the weather has closed in this afternoon and the snow is beginning to drift. The snow is set to continue until Friday evening and there are weather warnings for ice and strong winds tomorrow. The combination of these factors is likely to make conditions particularly treacherous and the advice of the Police is not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Having monitored the forecast carefully this afternoon, and taking the advice of the Police and Met Office into account, we have made the decision, in the interest of the safety of the students, to close Okehampton College on Friday 2nd March. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and once again I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.
